Health Day in TAWESCO

Several colleagues were recommended for further examinations, so we are very pleased that they attended the Health Day. The greatest interest was in mole examinations and the measurement of blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. The surgery was also fully booked with an ultrasound scan of the carotid arteries to detect the risk of stroke.

"The capacity of this clinic was filled first. Sono karotid is not reimbursed by insurance companies and the examination is not performed on a blanket basis, so it is not commonly available on request. A family history or a specific problem is required for the doctor to refer you for it. Moreover, there are only a handful of doctors who perform this examination in the region, and Dr. Tomáš Borák is the only one who is willing to travel outside his office to perform an expensive and sensitive ultrasound," explains Lucie Růžičková, who is in charge of employee health care at TAWESCO.

As a bonus, Medilam Ergonomics s.r.o.'s medical staff also prepared a first aid workshop for TAWESCO employees. Those interested were able to use three electronic mannequins to try out, for example, resuscitation or how to help a child who is choking.

"This was the first time we have organised a Health Day at Tawesco and I think it will certainly not be the last, because the colleagues who attended praised the event. People were asked to register for the check-ups in advance, but some came spontaneously after being told about the opportunity by colleagues who had already had their check-ups. Interestingly, most of the people who came to be examined were women, who are a minority in our workforce," said HR manager Lucie Růžičková.

Medilam Ergonomics s.r.o. has been offering preventive health events directly in companies for three years. "We do it as an additional activity once a month and we are very happy to do it because we see the response. Sometimes we send one doctor to a company, other times we might be there for five days. At TAWESCU they have chosen such a happy medium. People here have asked us a lot about what to do in case of specific injuries, especially children, but more interest has been shown in specialist examinations," said Lucie Ondrůšková, the company's managing director.
